What is the BC Tourism Sustainability Network?

​The BC Tourism Sustainability Network (BCTSN) is a collaborative tourism support program powered by the BC Tourism Climate Resiliency Initiative and its partner organizations, including Destination BC, the six Regional Destination Management Organizations (RDMOs), Indigenous Tourism BC, and the BC Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture & Sports. Beginning in January 2023, the BC Tourism Sustainability Network provides meaningful, one-on-one support and resources to tourism businesses wishing to incorporate sustainability into their operations.


Is my business eligible to participate in the Tourism Sustainability Network?

The BC Tourism Sustainability Network is currently open to tourism businesses and organizations located anywhere in British Columbia.


What types of services will the program offer to my business?

One-on-one Guidance

Participating businesses will kick off the program by meeting with a BCTSN Program Advisor for a sustainability consultation. Program Advisors will develop a customized sustainability roadmap that will include next steps, recommended educational resources and partner program referrals to support sustainability goals. 

Educational Resources

In addition to the resources for seven sustainability focus areas already available in the Resource section, the BCTSN has three more topics are coming your way! These user-friendly resources will guide businesses through climate adaptation, food waste reduction, and sustainable storytelling!

Workshop Series

In addition to the sustainability guides with accompanying videos and resources, six exclusive live workshops will be hosted by the team at Synergy Enterprises. These engaging workshops will be open to all participating businesses in the BCTSN. Dates and topics will be released soon!

Complimentary Experts & Assessments

Depending on your needs, your business may also receive tailored sustainability expert coaching,  and audits and assessments, such as waste audits, energy audits, and sustainable procurement assessments, at no charge.


What if I haven’t started my sustainability journey yet? What if my business has already undertaken sustainability work or accreditation?

Regardless of prior experience, this streamlined and supportive program helps tourism operators define a clear roadmap to integrate sustainability into their operations, strategy, and storytelling. Your program advisor will complete a full needs assessment to help determine the right supports for your business.
